About Us
Our Origins, Commitment, and Way

A Way To Be New Monastic Community is a community that has been birthing for a very long time.  Hoping and deeply desiring for the One to see, accept and embrace the lost, I began my spiritual quest.  I learned along the way the the more accepted and beheld I felt, the more I wanted to see and behold.  This amazing relationship unfolded over many years that has culminated in a deep desire for surrender - staking my heart and life on "yes" to the ultimate invitation:  the affirmation of love.

I became acquainted with the New Monastic Movement several years ago and, though it resonated throughout my being, my life was not aligned in such a way for me to pursue that path.  In the ensuing years, in spite of myself, I began shedding those aspects of life that didn't align with the monk's orientation.  Coming across the topic again recently, I realize how much of my life now synchronizes with the new monastic movement.  Deep listening and an ever deepening "yes" led me to create A Way To Be New Monastic Community.

As part of this community, I ask members to make a commitment to live a particular way and practice a specific rule of life.  We are an inter-spiritual community which gives space to each individual member to practice the monastic way in their own spiritual tradition, trusting that each person's relationship with the Divine is unique and personalized.  This community offers space for support and encouragement as well as guidance and resources to help the new monastic on the journey.

Monastic communities have been a part of religious traditions forever practically.  Traditional monastic community consists of ordained, celibate men and women who align with a specific faith tradition, denomination and founder.   New monastic communities differ by embracing inter-spirituality.   We are non-ordained, deeply faithful people - mothers, daughters, husbands, fathers, students, ministers, etc. – who deeply desire to align the entirety of their lives to the Divine.  A Way To Be New Monastic Community members are seekers who feel called to commit to and live out the core values within the context of an intentional spiritual community.

The new monastic way is a commitment to a different way of living; one that is grounded and focused on aligning one's life with the Divine Will.  It is not for everyone.  Yet we honor and give reverence to all on their spiritual quest.
