I commit to live in humility.
Humility of heart is about honesty and self-truth, an egoless understanding of one’s own limitations, of where one stands in relation to others. This is the foundation of the spiritual journey, which must be grounded in the truth of ourselves. Humility of heart is to put God at the center of your life, to cultivate the virtue of emptiness of spirit, and to be who God created us to be. Aware of the unending process of conversion, the humble person creates space for spiritual transformation, surrendering into Divine Love in order to be fully who they are. Humility calls us to cultivate a pure heart. It is the sincere desire to be less rather than more, poor in worldly accomplishments rather than rich, empty rather than attached, and nameless rather than honored. Humility also refers to modesty, and the absence of arrogance and pride. By discerning what is meaningful in our lives and what is not, humility gives us the strength to break through the wounds of the ego. It guides us each day toward love of God and of creations. Humility, hand in hand with selfless and compassionate service, puts others before self. Humility recognizes that everyone is our teacher who can help us on the spiritual path.
