I commit to cultivate mature self-knowledge.
Humility is the basis of an honest, mature self-awareness that accepts ourselves as we are, without covering up, making excuses, or blaming others. Mature self-knowledge is an extension of our training in humility. As we begin to gain self-knowledge, a much greater respect and compassion for others begins to arise. As we begin to accept our own gifts and develop them in service to the whole we also begin to have a much more profound respect for the gifts of others, as we are able to encourage them to develop those gifts. We begin to see how our own gifts are most often effective and powerful when in synergistic relationship with the gifts of others. Profound inner change takes root gradually within us as we gain this precious self-knowledge and uncover all the hidden motives that lie buried deep within us. Mature self-knowledge happens when we move beyond denial – denial of our faults and limitations, our buried motives or hidden agendas – and beyond judgment of others, beyond projection on others our own need for inner work. Mature self-knowledge enables us to be spiritually and emotionally detached, to positively ascend into what is most sacred in the human spirit.
